Review of Elephant (2015) by Rachel N — 31 Dec 2009
Inspired by the tragic events at Columbine High School, Elephant iis like a fictional documentary. The character development, which took up approximately an hour of the film was necessary as it lets us identify with the characters and experience the everyday things they go through at school.
It is amazing how the film was pretty much improvised and featured non-actors, as Gus Van Sant stated. Elias and Michelle were two characters whom I sympathised with the most as they got on with their school lives and didn't do anyone harm.
