Review of Elephant (2015) by Mike D — 25 Jun 2010
Sort of a little bit like Tarkovsky meets Kubrick meets Lars Von Trier meets somebody else.
Beautifully shot and edited....but some of the long walking behind shots get a bit too lengthy at times for me...but I still think this was a really good film....if you look at both Riget and The Shining youll notice that both of those pieces really show you the hospital and hotels corridors and rooms.....and this film has the same thing of really letting you feel what the school is like....the 4:3 ratio is really great for that.
The last 18 minutes are quite devastating...and it really does show you how horrifically efficient guns are at killing people.
