Review of Elephant (2015) by Wes M — 15 Sep 2010
An indie retelling of Columbine. Stuff I liked: several one-shots/long takes; a non-linear timeline, showing the same scenes from different viewpoints. Stuff I didn't like: not too great of acting; in a sense, it's a "boring" movie for the first hour, depending on how you look at it I spose; it's extremely predictable.
It did win the Golden Palm at Cannes, so I'll give it props for that. But it kinda left me feeling "meh". Didn't grab at my emotions like it was spose to. Still good though. Gus Van Sant, you're ok, not terrible, not amazing, just ok (see Good Will Hunting review for further information).
