Review of Elephant (2015) by Dave L — 05 Apr 2011
A stunning film about a high school shooting that unfolds among a seemingly ordinary day. That is the crippling effect of Gus Vant Sant's film. Long tracking shots establish characters...some of them jocks, loners, gossips, artists during what will become a one tragic day.
Director Sant leaves the preachiness behind and simply has his camera observe. Maybe that is the horrifying point of this movie: how normal it all seems.
