Review of Elephant (1993) by Brandon F — 21 Aug 2012
Tediously slow with constant changes in the timing, also starving the viewer of "real dialogue" throughout the entire movie. If Van Sant however did this intentionally, it creates a more poetic atmosphere. But to the naked eye, this film is a dreadful bore that strays from the reality of what actually happened that day; leaves out important facts, creates things that never happened (i.e, what was supposed to be a double suicide ended in homicide). The up sides are, though many of the situations in this film probably never occured, it will leave you furious, and maybe in tears, at the sight of such sadistic killings... All in all, disappointing.
And for the record... "Elephant?" Seriously?...
