This follow-up to the grossly underrated 'Daredevil' (2003) doesn't quite hit the target as previous Marvel comic book incarnations have. Terence Stamp is particularly solid here as mentor Stick and Jennifer Garner reprises her role as the title assassin, offering a distant, shielded, scarred hero with complexities that we as an audience aren't privy to.

And this is where 'Elektra' falls short, focusing on fight sequences (some of which are over-stylised) in lieu of character depth and development, so we aren't really given the opportunity to care about targets Goran Visnjic and Kirsten Prout, and instead marvel at how cool villains such as Tattoo (Chris Ackerman) and Typhoid (Natassia Malthe) are.

It's easy-going, undemanding entertainment, but moviegoers expect much more from such adaptations.
