Review of Elektra (2005) by Bryanbezter — 25 May 2020

Elektra's red costume and sai look great, but incomplete. The action scenes are good, but Elektra too easily defeats all her enemies without much effort. Jennifer Garner as Elektra Natchios did good job.

The story is uninspiring and uninteresting. Elektra's background was not explored, including her powers and abilities. Her connection to her sensei and other characters are not cleared. The romance and her relationship with Abby are not developed at all, suddenly Abby is like her child and Mark is like her husband. The villains only look cool, but they are extremely easy to be defeated. Elektra and the villains' motivation and conflicts are not explored.

Debatable holes:

1) Why did Stick revive Elektra? Did he know Elektra before? What made her so special?

2) Elektra did not have parents, but it was only mentioned that she was motherless.

3) Why did Elektra not kill the Millers? She only had 1 dinner with them but easily fell in love with the guy. Was she really an assassin?

4) Why were the Millers so important that Elektra had to sacrifice McCabe?

5) Elektra's resurrection skill was so convenient. How was she able to do that, considering that she was expelled by Stick?

6) Elektra kissed a stranger.

7) McCabe should have joined Elektra and the Millers to escape.

8) Abby stupidly screamed when Elektra was facing Stone in the woods, therefore revealed Abby and her father's location.

9) The tree easily killed Stone. He did not even try to move when the tree was slowly falling.Why did he change his mind?

10) Kirigi and Typhoid could teleport, why could they not catch or kill their enemies earlier, then?

11) When Kirigi's ninjas tried to attack Elektra's house, they all came from the same window. Elektra luckily set them on fire. The ninjas were never taught how to raid a house, the art of silent attack, strategy, and stealth.

12) When the ninjas were jumping into a room inside Elektra's house, they were not fast enough to throw shurikens at Elektra.

13) When Kirigi was fighting Elektra, why were the white clothes flying?

14) Kirigi defeated Elektra, but he was stupid enough not to kill her directly. How did he pass as a ninja?

15) Kirigi defeated Elektra, then Abby should be Kirigi's.

16) The snakes could fly.

17) The snakes did not injure or kill Abby.

18) When Elektra and Abby were running away from the house, why did Kirigi not chase them? He could teleport and move so fast.

19) Kirigi could move so fast, how could he be killed by Elektra?

20) It was so easy to kill Tattoo. He did not even do anything.

21) How did Elektra get the other sai during final battle with Kirigi?

22) Elektra grabbed Abby using Abby's chain on the stairs, why did Kirigi not catch them?

23) The enemies attack Elektra one by one, not together, so that they could give Elektra chance to defeat all of them.

24) Elektra had the ability of precognition, but how could she know the exact location of Typhoid in the maze?

25) The sai kept flying until it hit Typhoid.

26) Abby came to Elektra's house just on time, before Elektra was killed.
