We meet Tracy Flick before we meet her - like a machine gun the legs of her folding table blast out. Fantastic direction - then her separating the individual sticks of chewing gum in the shiny fish bowl.
Brilliant. Not a word of dialogue and we have already established this rapid fire / hard pressed teen ultra achiever. This is Reese Witherspoon's signature role, and Matthew Broderick's best and Chris Klein before he got addicted to Botox.
