Review of Election (2005) by Freeman M — 04 Jul 2013
Seeing this movie in full, it has amazed me that such a simple concept would go on to be a memorable movie for years to come. Matthew Broderick, an actor that normally plays the hero in teen comedies, this time plays the antagonist to Reese Witherspoon, though for good reasons explained in the movie: Matthew's best friend ends up losing his job as a teacher and his marriage due to his controversial infatuation with Witherspoon, whom the latter claims to be a teacher's pet and grade-A student.
While I do feel a bit sorry for Matthew Broderick's character's (or Jim McAllister's) fate later on in the movie, the movie itself can be forgiven for that.
