Review of Election (1999) by Adrienne L — 27 Apr 2011
I wanna see this one again. I really liked its dark humour. Matthew Broderick plays the exact opposite of his 'Ferris Bueller' character. As a befuddled and depressed teacher he tries desperately to tarnish the future of an overachieving student he is extremely jealous of.
Its interesting to watch Broderick's character sink lower and lower while repeatedly attempting to ruin the girl's ambitions. Instead of succeeding though his own already dissatisfying life falls completely apart. Reese Withersoon shines as the 'determined' student Broderick's character obsessively despises.
