Review of Election (1999) by Yuan Ting D — 15 Jun 2012
Impressive script that incorporates several characters internal dialogue. We hear and follow the lives of the three candidates and two teachers. The narration really captured the essence of each character's personality, which made it pleasing to watch.
Perhaps my two favorite characters were Tracey and Paul:
Tracey's focus and drive on achievement makes her very high strung and blow up hysterically at several points in the film.
Paul's amicable and common-good motives contrast with the rest of the casts' more self-centered manipulative efforts.
Following the life of McAllister's personal life was uncomfortable for me to watch, probably because I identify as a student and that is something I want to remain oblivious to...
The film was very entertaining and well written overall. The characters were right on spot and consistent with real life personalities. 4 stars!
