Review of Election (1999) by Steven G — 05 Jul 2014
There's a vindictiveness that emanates from the film which sometimes makes it a less-than-pleasurable viewing experience. Payne takes an almost savage joy in putting his characters through the ringer, and the characters are pretty selfish and unlikable themselves.
You pity them yet hate them at the same time. There's cleverness here, and the satire is downright vicious. But don't put it on when you want to feel better about life.
