Review of El Topo (1970) by Felipe V — 15 Jan 2009
Gets a point for some surreal creativity and compelling visuals. Gets demerits on unnecessary animal killings and an intrigueing start that goes nowhere fast and comes to a comical ending. Most interesting things that were set up earlier get demolished by a laughable end.
Too drug induced to make any sense or logic. No medium is an excuse for the killing of any living creature specially for entertainment. A degrading and disrespectful debacle of self indulgence and egoism not to mention boring but admittedly some visuals are strikingly unforgettable.
