Review of El Topo (1970) by Lisa R — 23 Mar 2009
One of the most intense movies I have ever seen. Surreal,"heavy" film about one man's redemption, played out in this inexplicable '70s spaghetti western meets psychedelic '60s freak-out style.
Virtually every scene incorporates religious allegory or symbolism with either graphic violence or disturbing imagery. Some features include a colony of deformed, inbred midgets, a brutal game of Russian Roulette played by women & children in church as a religious sacrement, & just a lot of generally depraved & disturbing behavior.
Over the top ending. SEE IT NOW!
