Maybe I'm not 'arthouse' enough or into psychedelic movies enough or just plain bonkers enough, but aside from some striking images, El Topo sucks. It's not even the more controversial elements that bug me, it's just far too weird, offbeat and nonsensical for me.
I like to know what happening once or twice throughout a movie. And when I do know what's happening, it'd be nice if it wasn't completely otherworldly. I can appreciate its relationship with drug takers, maybe that's what I'm missing.
