Ultra low budget Mexploitation actioner from Robert Rodriguez. Made for just $7,000, it's a proficient, individual delivery of an ingenious premise. Beneath the film itself is the equally quirky story of how Rodriguez accomplished this feat.
Medical testing, little money, no crew, one borrowed camera etc. El Mariachi proves anything can be achieved with imagination, talent and determination. The DVD is a film school on its own and I also recommend the companion book, Rebel without a Crew Or, How a 23-year-old Film-maker with $7, 000 Became a Hollywood Player.
