If you look at the movie all by itself, its a mediocre action flick that probably didn't deserve all the Sundance accolades.
But you have to take into account a feat like making it for $7k, and its incredible for what it is. Rodriguez is the master of editing to conceal and working with what you have. Make sure to view his "10 Minute Film School" as you'll get to see the raw footage and how he accomplished some of his scenes.
