Review of El Mariachi (1993) by Jim E — 28 May 2010
If we measure the greatness of a film by dividing how good it is by how expensive it was to make, then El Mariachi is very likely the greatest film of all time (and Avatar is the worst; in fact, even without considering budgets, El Mariachi is a better movie than Avatar).
It is far from flawless, but it really is miraculously good, considering the budget. The fact that most of the acting is excellent really helps us forget the low budget.
In any case, this is a fantastic accomplishment for Rodriguez.
