Review of El Mariachi (1993) by Milo S — 12 Apr 2011
This movie is like me, Milo Sloan: I have no budget, and with what little I do have, I can make fantastic things with my abilities in web acting. Now, enough about me, Milo Sloan, let's get to the movie review.
Living in Texas, I believe I owe it to my brother Texans to view their work. Mr. Rodriguez has a talent for doing everything on his movies, except for starring in them. That is one of the main reasons why I liked this series so much.
El Mariachi, being the first in a trilogy, stars some Mexican guy (I can say that, right?!) named something Mexican-ish. I started this film not knowing it was all in Spanish. So, I went through the first 10 minutes of it waiting for subtitles or waiting for the English to start. That part never came. So, after I turned on the subtitles, I began to read what I would begin to notice was a very good movie.
The action, effects, and acting is all very old school. With a 7,000 dollar budget, it doesn't really leave much room for stuff like paying actors or safety. This just makes me like this movie even more.
The story doesn't really matter. Guy comes to town, guy falls in love, guy gets mistaken for a bad guy, bad guys come to take guy and kill him, the real bad guy comes to get his reward, guys love is murdered, guy seeks revenge, guy becomes Antonio Banderas.
So, this jumbled mess of a review comes to a close with me saying my final thoughts. Milo Sloan believes that if you're an action junkie like myself, you will love this movie. It will remind you of awesome low budget movies like Terminator. SO, I give this a 4 out of 5 Sloanies*.
