El mariachi is a well made independent movie that consist of a really campy action and a serious drama of its unfornate character.

And with an amount of silly and outregous humor that completely like is being shot with a handleld.

Camera and cheap editing that made the movie really campy but it is also make El Mariachi a really fun movie to watch.

With a well written story that felt like a good old fashioned western movie that folows one man journey to a small town in mexico to chasing his passion and dream.

Of becoming an El Mariachi like his father and grandfather but little did he know that the town went into was nothing but a disastrous town that full of criminal.

And as soon he struggles to find job to becoming an El Mariachi (Carlos Garaldo) but suddenly he founds his journey to be nothing but a nightmare when he was accidently mistaken.

As he was being mistaken for a thugs named azul(Reinol Martinez) that currently in conflicts with an american druglord named mauricio(Peter Marquadt) but in the process.

He finds love when he met a female bartender named domino (Consuelo Gomez) but things get worst because of his current problem of his mistaken identity that might also endanger her.

From the story that is about one man dream that is crushed by an chain of bad luck because of the choice he made of going into the wrong town and made him realize sometimelife not always as simple as it seems.

That is the essence of this movie beneath the low budget and choppy editing which is made the movie funny and entertaining that capture the action genre really well.

And a solid acting from Carlos Garaldo as a believeable and covincing man whose dream crushed only because pointless conflict between a crime boss and his own thugs.

Really made the movie more watchable despite the flaw that the movie has but in the end El Mariachi is worth watching Action movie that has it's own rights with the slick humor and campyness as one of rodriguez.

First movie to be probaly one of his best movie that made him a promising young filmmmaker and put him into one of hollywood finest filmmaker at that times before he makes bad sequel and fail family movie like shorts.

But his first and most brilliant movie that save him and made his reputation in hollwood so after I watch this I belive that Robert rodriguez is a trully brilliant filmmaker that can make action in his own style and terms.

Of exploring not only the action but also the depth of its Character like he did in here that showed his passion and love as a filmmaker like El Mariachi here and hope that someday he is able to make another brilliant movie like this.
