Review of El Dorado (1966) by Jason G — 02 Jun 2007
One of the first westerns I've seen. And I was very impressed. John Wayne is very good and so is James Caan. But the real story is Robert Mitchum as the drunk sheriff trying to regain his honor. The movie is about a hired gun and his decision to side with a sheriff he's known for years instead of taking a job with a man wanting to forcefully take over another family's ranch.
Funny and entertaining, it does steal some from "Rio Bravo" but still all the same a very enjoyable movie!
