Review of El Cid (1961) by Mat K — 28 Jul 2008
A great big epic. Big story, big sets, big names, big drama, big budget, great costumes, and a cast of litterally thousands. Unfortunately it takes itself to seriously and some of the lines that you only get in an epic sometimes sound a little silly.
Also Heston and Loren could not stand eachother, which worked great in the scenes when they were fighting but in the love scenes he would not even look at her. However, the movie is worh seeing for the production values alone.
