Review of El Cantante (2006) by Don Z — 31 Jul 2007
The filmmakers rushed this movie faster than an MTV reality show, where many things that previously happened, in the end, they really don't matter any more since we only saw a limited standpoint (through Puchi's character).
Everything went so quick that, in the end, I didn't care about Hector Lavoe's life at all. They made him a total junkie, an alcoholic, a drug addict, an abysmal parent, when it never showed WHY he was such a big thing to such a vast audience.
And what was the whole salsa subtitles for?
