Review of El Cantante (2006) by Jennifer G — 15 Aug 2007

It turned out to be a good movie after all. Marc Anthony did a great job acting. JLo, well, wasn't that bad most of the film... The only thing I didn't like at all was the writing. The concept, the approach, and the setup were brilliant, but they could have developed much deeper characters, or at least portray the deepness they had in true life.

I felt cheated when Puchi promised at the beginning a good sense of humor in Lavoe, but all he made were lame jokes troughout the story. Weak writers, if they had written more comedy for his lines, the public would have fell in love with him all over again, and make his fall more tragic.

.. Just because of that I will give it 4 stars... By the way, giving Domingo Quiñones a small role in the film was hilarious.
