Review of El Cantante (2006) by Mike M — 29 Aug 2008
Lavoe's music is put across colourfully enough, but Ichaso soft-pedals everything else save the language in what often resembles a made-for-cable biopic. It's no "Gigli" - the last time J-Lo attempted to make something other than whoopee with the man in her life - but it's hard to get too deeply involved with, or much excited by, the life of someone we just haven't heard of.
Every other scene seems to end in el stand-up row.
