Review of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019) by Masterriley — 14 Oct 2019
El Camino acts as a perfect continuation and conclusion to Jesse's story after the finale of Breaking Bad. As expected, Aaron Paul gives an outstanding performance. The rest of the performances from the other characters, including the many cameos, are all great as well and are on par with the main series.
The film uses a lot of flashbacks to help remind you of what happened to Jesse and how it has affected his life now. They work well for the story and allow for some fan favourite characters to reappear.
At the same time though, the movie also retreads a lot of story ideas already established first in the series, so in that way the movie did not offer up a lot of new surprises. A lot of what happens in the movie is pretty easy to predict, especially where Jesse ends up at the end.
So in a way the movie felt unnecessary, but it is still nice to see Jesse's story definitively wrapped up nonetheless.
