Review of Eighth Grade (2018) by Emile H — 09 Aug 2018
Few directors are able to provide the right look at millennials in their teenage years, so it's great that the most skilled stand-up comedian gave it a whirl. And he pulls it off perfectly. All the awkward silences and the cringy moments are truthful to the core, in contrast to Elsie Fisher's performance as the character who can only communicate behind a YouTube camera.
This achieves the need to stay relevant to young adults of this new era, a feat that does not happen so easily in film.
