Review of Eighth Grade (2018) by Cristian B — 16 Jul 2018
Not only one of the best movies of the year but also one of the best coming-of-age movies I've seen. Writer-director Burnham makes an impressive debut in chronicling the awkward experience of being an adolescent in the current world.
He brings a painful honesty to the story that is both heartbreaking and hilarious. None of this would work as well as it does without breakout star Fisher's performance. She infuses every moment with raw energy, that you feel as though your watching her actual life in motion.
This is a special movie and one to be cherished. Burnham is a fresh new voice in filmmaking.
