Review of Eight Men Out (1988) by Jackson C — 08 Apr 2010
Eight Men Out is an interesting story in the sports world and a great idea for a movie. John Sayles isn't a more accomplished director, although he did write The Spiderwick Chronicles, which was awesome, and this movie looks and feels like it was made for TV. But what it lacks in polish it makes up for in story, acting and writing. I love when movies that take place in the early 20th century, not only look but also sound true to their year. The dialogue in this movie feels very true to the time and all the actors handle it wonderfully. The movie moves along at a decent pace making for an easy watch.
You don't hear a whole lot about the movie these days, but it's worth hunting down and checking out.
