Review of Eight Below (2006) by Robert S — 31 Oct 2008
In the spirit of the original "Incredible Journey" or the magnificent French film "The Bear", Eight Below is an adventure like no other. When a team of sled dogs find themselves left in the frigid antarctic wastes, they risk life and limb trying to survive, and to just make it home.
The fact that Disney made this was very surprising to me. There are no celebrity voiceovers, no ridiculous CG smiles on the dogs, just pure realism, and a sense of camaraderie. You grow to love them as much as they do each other, and you will cheer, laugh, and cry for them before the film is through.
