Review of Edward Scissorhands (1990) by Daniel G — 13 May 2012
Johnny Depp is very endearing playing this character, Tim Burton directs and writes in top form, and the style of the film is jaw-droppingly brilliant. After hearing for so long about how this is the type of film Tim Burton should be doing now, I couldn't agree more.
While there's a Pinocchio element for sure (with a hint of Rebel Without a Cause), the originality of the concept is just great. I wish that the film's plot were as good as it's style and wit; nothing really gets going until very late in the film, and by that point, I was half expecting there to be no story development at all.
But that being said, I'm so glad I finally got a chance to see this and would love for Burton to take his films as seriously as he used to.
