Review of Edward Scissorhands (1990) by Em W — 28 Nov 2015
Watched this decades later after the original release date and it's clear this collaboration shaped Depp's career to this day. Haunting, touching, poetic, and ahead of its time. Depp's performance is fantastic and would carry the film if it was needed but it isn't.
The story is equally solid. The direction is imaginative as it is perfect - I'll never forget the image of beautiful Ryder spinning in the snow in her holiday dress to Danny Elfman's enchanting score.
