Review of Edward Scissorhands (1990) by Lindsay W — 12 Oct 2012
Watched this back in the 90s, and remember not being blown away by and in love with it like most viewers. Rewatching it some 15 or so years later, and I still feel like it misses the mark. Not nearly dark enough to be truly creepy and thrilling; and overlayed with a surreal and bizarre "Desperate Housewives"-esque neighborhood that's more uncomfortable than humorous.
And oh good lord, Winona Ryder trying to act like a grandmother is just pathetic. I want to like it, especially since it is wonderfully original in conception, but I just can't get on board.
