Review of EDtv (1999) by Meredith B — 11 Mar 2008
There are many accurate points in this movie, about the direction entertainment is heading to. The second point that springs to mind is the fact that Matty sure loves to take his shirt off. Has he ever been in a respected dramatic film, by the way? He seems to play himself, or close to it, in every single movie.
The charming, roguish laid-back fellow. No, wait, that's right, he was in Reign of Fire at least. Oh well, something different at least. This movie has some laughs, but it is pretty unimportant in every way.
It tries to explore the boundaries of privacy via comedy and sometimes succeeds. More than anything else though, there are some juicy moments because of the fact that everyone can see the main character live all the time.
That's about it though. A moment's worth of entertainment, with no re-watch value whatsoever.
