Review of Edmond (2006) by John S — 04 Jul 2008
Adaptation of a 30 year old David Mamet play that plays out like a B-Movie amalgamation of Falling Down and Eyes Wide Shut. Has some very funny moments, the dialogue does that thing that Mamet's dialogue does, and the roster of cameos is impressive.
However there isn't an ounce of humanity on display here: the laboured points the film tries to make results in characters that are naive, ugly and utterly unbelievable.
