Review of Edmond (2006) by Jessica G — 08 May 2008
Brilliant bizarre film. Edmond's otherwise apparently predictable life goes ever so slightly awry as he gets beat up, tries to haggle with hookers and lap dancers and kills someone in a night of confusion and clarity all mixed up together.
He ends up in jail and presents a strangely naively innocent character throughout of somebody who has suddenly woken up in a world and a life they don't belong to a la Kevin Spacey in American Beauty and just want to feel alive.
Mix this with Michael Douglas in Falling Down and you have Edmond. Consider this the less accessible cousin of Falling Down, with more quirky darker characteristics. Great film.
