Groundhog Day as a sci-fi war movie, with the always reliable Tom Cruise at the center playing a fully fleshed out character who the audience can easily engage with, next to Emily Blunt's battle-hardened soldier type making sure we don't miss the thrills of high octane action.

In ways subversive, in other ways it bends a little too much to the will of the studios, at the end its debatable whether it ruins its own internal logic just to have the happy romantic ending.
