Review of Edge of Tomorrow (2014) by Jacob B — 23 Jan 2017
More than just Groundhog Day: Sci-Fi Action Edition The Video Game, Edge of Tomorrow is a thrilling action-packed movie which rises on the strength of the performances from Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt as well as on the assured direction of Doug Liman with some amazing special effects as the aliens look otherworldly and not something that serves as obvious CGI which also leaves the audience on the edge of their seat as they hope that in the end Tom Cruise's character will finally save the day.
Another thing, the film offers the occasional chuckle every once in a while to prevent its premise from being accused of being dark and gloomy. Overall, this is a pretty entertaining blockbuster sci-fi action thriller which won't be seen as the grittier reboot of Groundhog Day.
