Review of Edge of Tomorrow (2014) by James V — 29 Nov 2017
If you're gonna watch this movie don't read this review. :) Still as good as the first time I watched it. I love the tell by action as apposed to having the characters say it. I also thought it was pretty valuable that I didn't know it was a time movie the first time but hey watching it 2 years later it still was as great.
The action scenes, story, progression were all top notch. I also loved the development of the main character from zero to wimp to slightly better, to bad ass, to broken, back to bad ass. I also thought the romance in this movie was done well, not over the top to take away from the story but a welcome addition to making the character and their relationship feel human.
Especially during his broken parts where he's relived the same day over and over and tries to save her. The ending was well done while raising the stakes as it was his last life. It didn't feel like a deus machina and I'm glad it was all resolved well.
I just wished I got to see more of Emily Blunt and Tom cruise and their interaction towards the end. Guess its up to the imagination at this point. Fantastic movie.
