Review of Edge of Tomorrow (2014) by Andrew T — 10 May 2015
I've been pleasantly surprised with Tom Cruises last two movies, Oblivion and Edge of Tomorrow. While I liked Oblivion better, I still enjoyed EoT as well. This was a fun movie to watch with the video game feel of fight, die, respawn, repeat, but the writers took the time to create an engaging storyline that keeps you hooked from beginning to end.
Also, very realistic in how the situation arises that Tom Cruises character is put in the situation of going back to the last time he woke up every time he dies. Of course, as a lot of people mention, this movie had a definite Groundhog Day vibe, but that thought is only short lived as we are put in the action almost immediately and the story takes plenty of turns to keep the repeating fresh.
And unlike GD, the ending was well thought out, creative, and believable.
