Review of Edge of Darkness (2010) by Thomas D — 05 Oct 2010
So-so acting and a cliched plot add up to an okay movie. The biggest problem is that I never really cared that much about the characters. The daughter is killed off 8 minutes in, before you really get to know her, so you're just supposed to feel upset because dad lost his only child.
Maybe if Mel did a better job, but his "I'm a tough guy detective and I need to stuff it down while I methodically work on the case instead of mourning" routine didn't really work for me.
Plus, I found two hyper violent moments unintentionally hilarious due to happening out of nowhere. It just seemed out of place.
