Review of Edge of Darkness (2010) by Christian D — 09 Nov 2010
Mildly entertaining old Gibson. I would like to say vintage, but vintage signifies that it is good and not just replayed.
The movie is decent, the story is very formulaic and the only surprise it has is that it lacks all surprise. The acting is decent to good, with Mel doing a typical Mel role and doing a good job. The rest of the cast brings nothing new to the silver screen. The script is dull and two dimensional, the characters seem flat, they needed some more fleshing out in order for them to jump off the screen. The directing is serviceable, Martin Campbell neither bundles nor excels, he plays it safe and delivers a run of the mill movie.
All in all, the movie is decent and is worth a watch if it is on the tely, but it is nothing to go out of your way to see. Happy hunting.
