Edge of Darkness isn't a great movie, but it does entertain. It stars Mel Gibson who in recent news is not the horse to be backing, but this film came out before he went crazy so it's ok to watch it. Mel Gibson is a cop who one night is leaving the house with his daughter and wham, she gets shot. The bullet that killed his daughter is believed to have been for him, but as time goes on we digress, and find out that this is not the case. Through a series of possible leads, and witnesses we get brought to the doorstep of the Northmoor company wich is a mysterious company, that is a bit quiet, and big on covering things up. The president of the company played by Danny Huston (X-men Origins: Wolverine), and he tells Gibson he is sorry for his loss. Eventuall you find out that Gibson's daughter had been discovering secrets about this company. Not only are they a weapons company, but htey are nuclear weapons company building for foreign countries. They silenced Gibson's daughter by deliberately poisoning her with radiation. Throughout the film as Gibson is searching for his daughters killer he is slowly succumbing to radiation poisoning as well, radiation poisoning he got from his daughter.

Throughout the film Gibson is approached by Ray Winstone (King Arthur)who is supposed to stop Gibson by any means necessary, but he seems to be acting on his own agenda as well. By the end of the movie Gibson gets his revenge after a series of car chases, and investigating to finding Huston and murdering him but is shot in the process. As for Winstone he reports back to his bosses, and disagreeing with their actions kills them, but in turn is killed by the security guard. At the end you see Gibson in the hospital, lying in a bed when his "daughter" walks, she is clearly an illusion, they are both than seen walking out of the hospital into a white light.

Gibson is quite good which is one reason I am recommending this movie. I also liked the suspense, and intrigue. The film isn't perfect, but it's worth a watch. Not missing much if you don't see it.
