Review of Edge of Darkness (2010) by Dc E — 07 Feb 2012
Not bad, Mel. Not GREAT ... but not bad.
Edge of Darkness is about a Boston detective, who watches his daughter get shot and killed while standing right next to him. Shortly before her death, she hints that she needs to confide in him about something ... but never gets the chance to explain. Mel becomes curious and believes his daughter was mixed up in something sinister ... and he is right. Because, well, if she wasn't there wouldn't be much of a movie ... heh.
Anyway, it won't rank anywhere on my Best of 2010 list, but "Edge of Darkness" wasn't bad. The story was interesting and was written well. You truly sat and wondered for an hour and forty-eight minutes "What on earth is going on?".
The problem is that once you find out what happened to get her killed, it isn't all that interesting. I dunno, it was a lot of government conspiracy crap and it didn't seem to fit into this sort of movie. On top of that, after all the drama and intrigue, Mel decides to settle this by going in guns blazing ... which is badass in a way, sure ... but makes you wonder why he just didn't do that in the first place.
10 Scale rating: 6.0.
