Review of Edge of Darkness (2010) by Jasen L — 02 Sep 2012
Mel Gibson is Back! Well, Tom Mullen from Ransom, Benjamin Martin from The Patriot and a little bit of Riggs from Lethal Weapon are back! Just about all the things that we liked about Mel Gibson from the 90's are wrapped up in the character Thomas Kraven, in this well rounded thriller about a father's hunt for his daughters murderer.
There are elements of Taken and The Departure here and pieces of other movies you've seen, the difference is Gibson who has an uncanny ability to play a man on the edge of crazy. The movie does a great job at establishing a fathers pain for the loss of his only child and never lets you forget his convictions.
Other than a few slow moments this is a really well done classic type thriller. There are a few twists, a mystery man in the shadows and a corporate villain who you'll hope gets it really bad in the end.
