Review of Edge of Darkness (2010) by Sol C — 08 Jan 2011
I have to say that I was surprised by this film. From the trailer, it seemed like a routine predictable action thriller that I wouldn't enjoy. However, after watching the film, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. True it feels a little like Taken, which was a much better film than this film. What made this work for me was Martin Campbell's direction and the editing, which was very good.
Gibson was ok in the lead role, however, I feel like I have seen him in this role before in movies like Ransom, Lethal Weapon, and Conspiracy Theory. I could have seen Harrison Ford, Michael Douglas, Kurt Russell, or even Jeff Bridges play that role. The scene stealer in the film is Ray Winstone. He steals every scene that he is in, in the movie. Danny Huston does a good job playing the villain of the film.
