Review of Eden Lake (2008) by Pete B — 23 Dec 2010
A really thrilling story of young couple who cross a gang of vicious kids lead by a nasty beast of a child who schools his friends with fear and pain. The acting is pretty good but since this is more of a roller coaster type film the individual characters aren't as key as the direction, which is very good.
The film really grabs the audience and never lets go I was as usual viewing this late at night/early in the morning so unless it held my attention I would of passed out luckily it kept my pulse up as well as me which is in it self a rave review since I know how many supposed thrillers have put me into a deep sleep.
Beside the surface details Eden Lake has some interesting plea's within to the audience I always love a film with a bit of a message hiden under all the action or whatever. So this film wont win best picture but it still is one of the better thriller films I've seen this year but maybe I'll be yet surprised.
We shall see....
