Review of Eden (2013) by Elvira L — 05 Jul 2013
Out of everything that Jamie Chung has appeared in (which for the most part has been consistently bad) this is hands-down the best performance of her career.
It really showcases her acting ability for once.
This film is the harsh, sad reality of sex trafficking and to never ever trust a stranger older than you when going out.
It's what 'Trade' should have been; honest and truthful.
Be forewarned, this movie is not for the faint of heart.
I found it very distressing to watch a lot of the time because of the vile, cruel actions the sex-slave-turned women have to endure.
The whole experience is almost pretty morbid.
Again though we are rooting for Chung as Eden because at points it almost seems as if she has given up hope and gives in.
She's forced to assimilate with the system and the procedures against her better judgement.
You will also be so awestruck as to the kinds of people pay for this horrendous crime.
Just be prepared to take in the grim tone if you do decide to take a gander.
Again though Jamie Chung's performance is the real treat that brings us out of this dark story.
