Review of Eddie the Eagle (2016) by John H — 06 Mar 2016
What holds this film back is the main character, who is void of charisma. Hugh Jackman saves it but he does not appear until almost midway. Then there is the stereo-type middle class British family that prides itself in being unlearned dolts.
Though it is a story of will and discipline over coming all odds to set a record, there is no arc to the character. Eddie remains the goofy, overweight, unshaven, bespectacled, misfit loner he started out as.
