Review of Eddie the Eagle (2016) by Tiffany R — 09 Mar 2016
I never would've thought that the main actor in this is also the same guy in Kingsmen. He does a great job as the awkward, real life Olympian Eddie Edwards.
I wanted to see an inspirational movie and this definitely hits all the requirements. This isn't the traditional "nerdy-guy-wins-everything-and-gets-the-girl" kind of story though. There is no girl and the main theme of the film is focused on the purpose of the Olympics. It leaves you feeling that accomplishments can be done with or without an award. In particular, the Flying Fin, who is the epitome of the superior athlete, explains to Eddie that yes, he's won the gold medal, but he's not happy because he didn't achieve what he felt he could do and that it wasn't always about winning.
